Youth and Politics – Why hate the game

It really is a sad thing when the youth of a generation cannot embrace the true meaning of politics and what it actually represents because their entire lives they have seen politics at work and it has done nothing for them – or so they think.

Politics as defined by Dictionary.com refers to the “activities associated with the governance of a country or area, especially the debate between parties having power”. Another definition says that it is “activities aimed at improving someone’s status or increasing power within an organization.”

The second definition puts it all into perspective for Guyanese Youths. Those that are under thirty and have had 22 years of one regime that had them literally writhing in misery for the majority of the time.

Although this regime may have started off with good intentions, those intentions are long gone. The few good people left are forced into the shadows and coerced into eternal silence or the butter is out of their mouth.

The problem with Guyana’s youth is that it has experienced a shitload wackamoley of bad politicians hence the general distrust of politics. But anyone who says that they have no interest in politics needs to have a stadium up seats filled with cacti.

How can you not have an interest in the thing that determines your future? But really you aren’t the ones to blame…really you are to blame because the blame is on society and you are society. You created this monster.
